The Light Between Oceans is a real masterpiece created by M.L. Stedman that centers around the life of a married couple and the decisions that they have to make during their life. The story tells about the tale of Tom who recently comes back from World War I and marries a woman named Isabel. Both start living on an island off Western Australia, where Tom serves as the keeper of the lighthouse, and long to have a child of their own. After having two miscarriages and a stillbirth when Isabel is burying her child she happens to find a little babywashed up on the shore with her dead father.

Isabel decides to keep the child and raise the little girl as her very own while Tom who is a man of principles is vary of her decision. As the story continues we find out about another woman, a mourning mother, who has also lost her child which gives an interesting turn to the events. As the story continues the baby grows into a very intelligent child which makes the readers keep turning the pages of this novel by Stedman. Besides that, the bond between Tom and Isabel is highlighted very beautifully by the author. The relationship they both share is strong with Isabel giving all she has to the man she loves when Tom has learned to expect little after his life at war and with his own messed up family.

M.L. Stedman - the author
Readers will love the way the story is written by Stedman and the strong sketch of all the characters including the little child will amaze the readers. The tough decisions that the characters have to make, Isabel’s conflicting emotions and Tom’s inner turmoil of keeping the secret within himself is enough to make the story come to life for the readers. Readers will hardly find such a piece to read anywhere else as the twists and turns of the story make it quite exciting to read. Without a doubt M.L.
