If you are looking for a book that deals with guilty pleasures then And When She Was Good is one novel that you should get your hands on. It is an incredible novel written by Laura Lippman who describes the life of a suburban madam Heloise Lewis.

And When She Was Good in few words

Heloise Lewis has a son named Scott and although she may seem to be a successful businesswoman besides being a madam but she has wrapped herself and her son in a shell of innocence to keep themselves secure from the treacherous outside world. It takes a strong woman to lie to herself to keep the facade of brilliance intact. Laura Lippman portrays the character of Heloise Lewis brilliantly showing the love of a mother towards her child and at the same time fighting with her own life believing that she is in control of everything that happens to her. Getting physically and emotionally abused by her father who was enabled by her mother lead Heloise Lewis to such a life in her adulthood. Even if she decides to change her life it is not as easy as it seems during the tough economic times.

A great writer of last years - Laura Lippman

And When She Was Good - the Book
Laura Lippman who is already famous for her crime novels gives this novel a bit of the same touch at times. Not only her crime novels are popular but she has done it again with And When She Was Good for the delight of her readers. If you like to watch television series such as The Client List then you will surely enjoy this novel too as it shows how a victimized woman battles with her inner turmoil while keeping a balance between what is facade and what is a reality.
